Industrial Agreement signed between M.N.I.B. and Commercial & Industrial Worker’s Union

Thursday 13^th September, 2007- St. George’s: An Industrial Agreement between the Grenada Commercial & Industrial Worker’s Union (C.I.W.) and the Marketing and National Importing Board was signed today, Thursday 13^th September at the Department of Labour.

The agreement will take effect as of 1^st January 2006 and shall remain in force until 31^st December 2008.

The follow wage increases were agreed upon:

2007: 7.6% for worker earning $1000 and under, 5% for workers earning $1001-$1200 and 3.5% for workers earning $1200 and over.

2008: 7.6% for worker earning $1000 and under, 5% for workers earning $1001-$1200 and 3.5% for workers earning $1200 and over.

A one off payment of one month salary payable as bonus December 2006.

In addition to the above, the parties also agreed that the company shall assist in providing uniforms/protective gear to all employees within the Bargaining Unit with five (5) sets per year for females and five (5) shirts per year for males.

Signing on behalf of management was Mr. Wilfred Jones and Alexander Robert, whilst Mr. Elliot Bishop and Mr. Mason signed on behalf of the Union.

Labour Commissioner Mr. Cyrus Griffith witnessed the signings.
