Summer Training Programme for Teachers and Principals Underway

 

Monday 2nd July, 2007- St. George’s: The Summer Training Programme for Teachers and Principals commenced at six locations around the island today Monday 2nd July, 2007.  The locations include the Westerhall Secondary School, T.A. Marryshow Community College, St Joseph Convent-St. George’s, Grenville Secondary School, and the Ministry of Education.

 

The training workshop which is scheduled to run from 2nd-20th July, 2007 is geared at equipping teachers and principals with the necessary tools to effectively educate our nation’s youth, as well as to develop their understanding of national education strategies.

 

A variety of topics are being covered such as:

 

·        Continuous Assessment

·        Spanish Curriculum

·        Lab Safety

·        Counselling

·        Technical Education for Lower Secondary Curriculum

·        Teacher Induction Training

·        Brain Based Research & ICT Integration

·        Development of Lesson Plans

·        Instructional DVD Production

·        Health and Family Life Primary Curriculum

·        Literacy

·        Special Education (Early Diagnosis & Braille Education)

·        Synthetic Phonics.

 

One of the major highlights of the Summer Teacher Training Programme will be presentations by Mrs. Audra Wells Mark of “NEW INNOVATIONS” out of Florida. Mrs. Mark will be making several presentations on the latest in brain research with arts-integration, sensory experiences, music, movement, rhythm, innovative activities, acceleration techniques and study skills.

 

This will be the fifth year that the “NEW INNOVATIONS” team will be working with our educators in Grenada
