Grenadian delegation to attend various seminars in China

Thursday 30^th, August 2007- St. George’s: A nineteen (19) member delegation will leave the island for the Peoples Republic of China during the first week of September.

In China, the Grenadian delegation will attend the following Seminars and Forums:

· Tourism Development and Cooperation Seminar for countries of Latin America, the Caribbean and South Pacific Region.

· Economic Forum which is a high level forum for Ministers of Government.

· Seminar on Trade and Investments.

· Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Latin American, the Caribbean and South Pacific Region.

· South Cooperative Seminar for Agriculture Technologist of South Pacific and Caribbean Countries.

· Video and Television Seminar for Caribbean News Officials and Journalists.

In an address to the delegates, Ambassador of the Peoples Republic of China Qian Hong Shan praised the strong friendly relationship that has been established between the two countries and reported that the Government and people of China are looking forward to hosting the Caribbean contingent.

Ambassador of Grenada to the Peoples Republic of China Mr. Joslyn Whiteman in his address impressed the need for foreign countries to take advantage of the many opportunities offered to them by the Chinese’s Government, especially the business community and the Tourism sector, since China is now the fastest growing economy in the world.

Also expressing his sentiments was Minister responsible for Economic Development and Planning Mr. Anthony Boatswain. He expressed appreciation on the behalf of the Government and people of Grenada for the continued investment into our country’s human resource.

The Economic Development minister encouraged the delegates to make the best use of the visit as it provides an opportunity to assist in the country’s economic development.

The delegates are expected to return by the third week in September.
